Alternative singer and songwriter FKA Rayne has had an unusual career path compared to most musicians. At 17 she flew across the country to play pre-show for Billie Eilish, four months before she’d release her debut single. At 18, she was the face of Amazon music’s ‘Artists to watch 2020’ list for her song ‘Bored’, and now 20, FKA Rayne is learning what it means to make music she loves.
With prior releases leaning into the pop and dance genre, FKA Rayne is taking the time to explore different sounds, adding elements from Alternative, Hard rock, and Nu-Metal alongside her glossy pop vocals. Breaking away from the pop-star mould that she was pressed into in prior years, and into something that is uniquely and unequivocally her.
In July 2021, FKA Rayne released her debut EP ‘False Love’, the Factor funded project features songs co-written and produced by industry experts Tavish Crowe (Carly Rae Jepson), Ryan Stewart (Hedley, Bif Naked), and Troy Samson (Kelly Rowland). ‘False Love’ shows off FKA Rayne’s writing prowess, with heart wrenchingly relatable lyrics, dynamic melodies, and fun, unexpected production choices that flex the duality of her voice and sound. Well received by her audience, 3 of the 6 songs were added to top Spotify editorial playlists including ‘It’s a Bop’, ‘Pop all day’, ‘omw’, ‘Fresh finds: pop’, ‘Workout’, ‘New Music Friday Canada’, ‘Pop favourites’, ‘Fit Check’, and ‘Fresh Finds’.
Under the guidance of new management at Quadio records, FKA Rayne has been writing with a number of new, upcoming songwriters and producers who are making names for themselves in the international music scene.
